How does the Scoring work?
Example: Jack has a 10.4 Handicap Index
1.
The Tournament Director calculates a tournament handicap of 11 for Jack based on the golf courses’ slope and rating.
2.
Jack will play in the “Birdie” flight (handicaps ranging from 7.0 – 12.9).
3.
All flights are NET scoring, so if Jack shoots an 85, his NET score is 74.
4.
If Jack’s 74 is in the Top 20% of scores in the Birdie flight, he will win his share of the Birdie Flight purse.
5.
Ties for first place with be decided by a playoff determined by the Tournament Director.
6.
Other ties will share the purse. So if two players tie for third, they split the combined 3rd and 4th place purse
Where does the purse come from?
-$400 from each players’ entry fee goes towards the purse for one-day events.
Will sandbaggers get paid?
-No. Sandbaggers will be eliminated and their purse will be given to the other players in the event. See the Honors Contract and Member Handbook for the full anti-sandbagging system including Director of Golf handicap reviews, private investigator, Rules and Fairness Committee, and polygraph testing.
